42 page journal book, with red leather over spine and corners; Cut out block letters pasted to front cover with title "Mignon" and same on first page of contents; Contents are all in the hand of Luigi Albertieri and include one page presentation, followed by 38 pages alternating with text and drawings/figures showing choreography; Presentation is in English and reads: "To / The very good / teacher Lillian / Cushing, in remem / brance of my first copy / of Coreografic of the ballet / in Opera Mignon, made in / the years 1896- for Covent Garden / London, and Metropolitan Opera / House of New York. / Yours truly / Luigi Albertieri"; Remaining text is in Italian; Volume may be ex-library, as there is some wear to spine appearing that a label may have been removed, as well as to rear end leaves where tape residue remains; Letter M of cover title, MIGNON, is worn, though title remains clear; All of writing and drawings remain very bright and clean; Folded and laid into the book is a typed letter with personal letterhead of Luigi Albertieri at 11 East 59th Street, New York, and dated May 17, 1927; Letter is addressed to "Miss Cushing" (presumed to also be Lillian Cushing?); Content of letter deals with rates and openings for students to be accepted by Albertieri at his New York studio; Letter is signed boldly by the author, with hand written note "Give my best whishes to my dear Martha"; Letter has been folded and has weekend along folds; There is a 1 x 2 inch piece of the letter with typed text that is detached, though smoothly torn and laid in place; Very interesting and unique items... feel free to request photos.

There is a moderate amount of marginalia and some underlining, in the hand of Leo Roberts, who is included in the book, and appears to have contributed information used by the author. Although some of the notes are of a personal nature (i.e. "I dated his daughter," the majority are of a scholarly/historical nature providing additional facts and details. Volume is otherwise tight and fairly clean, with only a couple of very small and light smudges/stains. Dust jacket remains very clean, though shows a little very light wear over head of spine. Jacket is now protected in a clear mylar sleeve.
