"Poems to Live By" was an annual Christmas publication compiled by L. H. Petit, Superintendent of Schools, Chanute, Kansas. Although believed to have begun with Book One in 1930, this is an incomplete run of the publication with only eight different issues included. These are Books Five, Six, Seven, eight, ten, fourteen, fifteen, and sixteen (1935, 36, 37, 38, 40, 44, 45, & 46). The four earliest books show general light wear, and two punched holes along spine. Their covers are lightly soiled, and they have names inside the front covers. Book Ten (1940) shows light wear, and a small inked name on first blank page. The three latest issues are near fine in condition.
