Leather spine covers on all three volumes is very worn, and some joints of spine with cover are a little tender. Cloth covered boards remain fairly clean and intact with gilt stamped lettering. Extracted from "Recueil d'observations de zoologie et d'anatomie comparée, faites dans l'océan Atlantique... by M. de Humboldt. pp 26-45, plus two engraved plates (VIII & IX). One plate is a hand colored image of "Vultur Gryphus Lin." and the second is a b/w detail of head and claw. Later binding with tan marbled paper over boards, and cloth over spine. Paper title label on top cover appears from original issue. Scattered mostly light foxing, a little heavier on b/w plate, though not affecting images. Color plate shows a little foxing near edges, though image remains bright and very attractive. Leaves remain un-opened and are otherwise good.

Foxing affecting first ten leaves, and edges of most plates and title pages. Part I title page with vertical crease.

A previous booksellers penciled notations on blank page following free end leaf. Circular inked institutional stamp on title page. Covers remain Fine, and volume is overall tight and intact.

No date of publication, though circa 1860s/70s. Dark green cloth, with gilt and black stamped decoration and lettering. All edges of text are gilded. Eight hand colored plates. Covers are a little rubbed and lettering/decoration is a little faded. End leaves remain intact, though with some smudges, old marks, and a little wear. A few smudges on title page. Text block is shaken, and some leaves and signatures are sprung and a little loose. All contents are intact, however, and remain attached to binding. All eight plates are collated and in very good condition.

350 pages. Original cloth covered boards. Rebacked in a light brown cloth with gold stamped lettering. Original covers are scuffed, and worn along edges. New end leaves. At top of title page is inked "Halifax, Nova Scotia" and a name, possible Edward Bland, and a date of March 1852. There is scattered inked and pencil marginalia, all neat and non-intrusive. The contents are otherwise generally clean, though show light smudges and just a little light foxing. To the lower blank portion of the last page of text is sewn pages 65-68 of "The Mails for New York," and a notation that the date may be1853 or54. The article is titled "Birds of Bermuda" with a note that the names are taken from the currently listed title. This is followed by a single leaf (two page) insert from 1854 "Natural History" with an article titled "Description of a New Species of Bird of the Genus Larus Linn" by George N. Lawrence.

Two volumes, with first being text, and second containing 100 hand colored lithographs. Rebound, retaining original boards. Dark burgundy leather over spines, with gold lettering. Edges are original covers are worn. Scattered light wear and aging. Lightly inked name, date (1872), and notations in blank space near top of title page. Tissue guards between plates have been affixed, in three small points along outside edges, to the blank versos of the preceding plate. Many guards have torn and loosened, though this does not affect plate images. There is very light soiling affecting upper edge of first 25 plates, though remaining outside of borders. Images remain bright and clean. Due to size and weight, extra postage will be required for priority or international mail.
