Book plate on front paste downs. Volume one shows separation of title page, and following two leaves which are detached. Scattered light foxing, though heavier on map and plates. Volume appears to have been rebound in the early 20th century, incorporating reprints of a few of the missing plates. Cloth over spine and corners is rubbed and a little worn. Marbled paper over boards is a little rubbed. Scattered, mostly light foxing. Volume remains tight and in generally good condition, though head of spine has been bumped, and there is a light crease at upper inside corner of all leaves. 22 of 26 plates are present, though five are good quality facsimile color reprints apparently included at the time of rebinding. Volumes IV and V were never completed, though the supplemental material designated for them was later published by the U. S. Naval Observatory. All four volumes bound in full polished calf with red and black leather spine labels. VOLUME I: 556 pages, indexed, plus 11 plates including the nearly six foot long folding plate of the "Panoramic View from the Summit of Santa Lucia, Santiago." Leather covers are rubbed and scuffed. Contemporary inked name on title page, and elsewhere with some ink offsetting and bleed through to adjacent leaves. Scattered foxing, only minimally affecting edges of a few plates. VOLUME II: 300 pages, plus 36 plates and one folding map. Leather covers are rubbed and scuffed. Older inked name on title page and a few pages inside, has caused offsetting and ink bleed through to other pages including Plate VIII adjacent to page 112, "Indian Antiquities." Scattered light to moderate foxing, only minimally affecting any plates except for XXXVII adjacent to page 213, "Tachymenes Chilensis," a black and white plate. Other plates remain generally clean, and the hand colored bird plates are very nice. VOLUME III: 492 pages, plus one plate. Leather covers are heavily rubbed and portions of the spine cover are missing. Spine labels are present and intact. Top cover is loosened. Mostly light scattered foxing throughout. VOLUME VI: 420 pages. Leather covers are scuffed and heavily worn. Spine cover is mostly detached with some portions missing. Spine labels are chipped on edges, though mostly intact with good lettering. Top hinge (internal) is broke and there is a little separation between front end page and title page. Foxing and offsetting, mostly on first and last leaves, and title page is a little darkened. Due to the weight and size of this set, extra charges will apply for Priority and/or International shipping.

Published in three parts from 1900 to 1906, as a supplement to the Goeldi's "Aves do Brazil." Complete with all 48 color plates with protective tissue guards. Rebound without the original paper wrap covers. Each leaf has been separated and tipped to a tongue which was then bound into a single volume bound in burgundy leather over the spine and corners, and burgundy cloth over the boards. Raised spine bands and gilt stamped lettering on spine. Marbled end leaves. Covers are scuffed and rubbed, and there is a half inch split along top joint at head of spine. There are a few smudges on edges of title page, and contents are a little aged along all edges. Volume remains tight and is otherwise clean and intact.

No stated date of publication, though circa 1795-1796. This is a single bound volume containing a "Programme et Plan de L'Ouvrage" which is four pages, along with 36 sections and including 109 tissue guarded, hand colored engraved plates. About midway through this volume, just followig the section on Guyane, is one title page for the "Encyclopedie..." There is no publisher's imprint, rather, the program, title page, and beginning of each section title page state "Se trouve chez les principaux Libraires de la Republique." The included sections are as follows: Moeurs, Loix et Costumes Des... Top cover is loosening, though remains attached. Small older library sticker at upper spine corner of top cover. There is also an institutional book plate on the front paste down, and an inked number on the blank verso of the first section title page. NO other institutional markings. Smudges, some spotting, and a few minor moisture stains. Moisture stains are seen along the fore edge of the last 15 leaves entering only the margins and not affecting plates or text. Lovely plates with vibrant color.
