Originally issued in 16 parts from 1889 to 1896, then as a two volume set with the plates being in a separate volume from the text. This is only the plate volume with no text. Original paper covers with Plate I on the inside of the bottom cover. Covers are held in place with tape, and all paper is missing over spine. Covers are smudged, chipped, and shows scattered stains. Top cover image is intact, though marred by a tear and scattered stains/foxing. Complete with all 36 color plates. Images remain bright and are fairly clean. Scattered small tears, foxing, and smudges minimally or not affecting images. Plate I on the inside of the bottom cover shows heavy foxing and stains in the margins, and slightly affecting image by Muetzel. Plates XII and XXVI after Goering each show closed tears affecting image, one being about three inches and the other about six. Plate XXXV after Ridgeway is detached and shows some stains affecting image.
