384 pages, plus 50 hand colored steel plate engravings including frontispiece, plus decorative hand colored half-title page. With "Ladies Horticulture; Ladies Botany; and Soliloquy" by Alphonse Karr. Lovely, contemporary, black leather covers with raised spine bands and very elaborate gilt decoration and lettering. All edges of text block are gilded. Covers show a few scuffs and light rubbing, though remains bright and attractive. Front free end leaf is detached, though laid in place with chips on edges. Rear end leave is almost detached, also with chipping. Scattered foxing and smudges, sometimes heavy and affecting some of the plates. Color on plates remains good, and despite faults they are all very attractive.
