Edgar Watson Howe (1853 - 1937) was an American novelist and newspaper and magazine editor in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He fought for the Union in the Civil War and established a newspaper Bethany, Missouri to advocate his cause. Following successful, but short lived, endeavors operating newspapers in Colorado and Nebraska, Howe established "The Globe" in Atchison, Kansas in 1877 (Now the "Atchison Daily Globe").
